Which Grocery Item Is Actually Cheaper?
Compare grocery prices by unit, bulk deal, pack size, and store brand so you can choose the cheaper option.
Quick answer: The package price alone doesn't tell you which product is the better deal - the unit price (cost per ounce, pound, or count) does. Use the Unit Price Calculator below to compare any two products in seconds.

Prices & Value questions, answered
How do I know which grocery item is the better deal?
Compare the unit price - cost per ounce, pound, or count - not the shelf price. A larger package with a higher unit price is not actually the better deal, even though the total looks bigger.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Only when the unit price is lower and you can use the item before it spoils or loses quality. Wasting half a bulk pack usually costs more than buying the smaller size.
Are store brands as good as name brands?
The label alone does not determine value or quality. Compare the current unit price, ingredients, package size, and the quality your household will actually use before choosing between a store brand and a name brand.
